Vygotsky's theroy

Vygotsky believed that cognitive development was founded on social interaction. According to Vygotsky, much of what children acquire in their understanding of the world is the product of collaboration.

Children learn best not when they are isolated, but when they interact with others, particularly more knowledgeable others who can provide the guidance and encouragement to master new skills.

Introduction

In early childhood education, technology can be a tool to facilitate learning.
n conjunction with interactive media, it plays a large role in the lives of young children. It can be a great tool that enables them to express themselves, and cultivate key skills such as finding there own information, creating art and comminating with others.

Technology and connection are side by side. Through phone calls, video chatting and social media we connect to our loved ones.

In this project we use the lanage of technology to explore what connection means to our children. By giving them the procreate app in a group setting we engorge calibration and by using our social media platform we introduce children to a lager community and start the conversion about internet safety early on.

Samuel found the rocks and mineral book – and decided we should go outside and find some rocks of our own, he asked the educators, “ what's inside the rock?” The educators wanted to follow his interest and explore rocks further

Educators set up a provocation, smashing the rocks open with hammers to find the insides. During this provocation Jasmine and Charlotte both said “ We need to use the camera to take a picture of the hammers and rocks” - then Jasmine also says “ The picture will make sure we remember we opened the rocks” the children are using what they have learnt about tecnolagy in there exploration

Why Rocks?

conversation about the rail lands?

Educators wanted to bring these three threads together and begin to involve our lager community, they decided on a rock hunt at the rail lands that children and family's can post about on our centres Instagram, this bring the rock, tecongaly and the rail lands together into one activity about our connection one another.

As using the rock’s painted by the children educators went out to the rail lands and hid them for the children to go and find with there families.

Educators created a treaser map of the Mount Gambier rail lands and handed it out to families

in the weeks following the children and there families went out and found the rock treshers, posting photos on social media and commenting, celebrating this simble of connection created by the children.
